The Rotherhithe Pied à Terre
Our client chose the Metallics Collection for his pied a terre in a converted warehouse with great views of the Thames, as it suited the industrial nature of his building. As the kitchen is part of the main living room in this large open plan space, he wanted the kitchen furniture to be a major feature of the interior design of the space, and the patinated copper cabinets certainly add to the wow factor in the room. The rest of the cupboards are in black stained oak with aged brass handles, allowing the beauty of the copper to feature strongly as a contrast. However storage and practicality are very important in this small apartment with limited storage space. A large breakfast cupboard ( a standard feature in many of Ledbury Studio’s kitchens) encloses a microwave and storage for food and crockery, a magic corner makes full use of the corner space, and all the cupboards pull out as drawers for maximum practicality. The large oak panel at the back of the breakfast bar, has aged brass fluting as a decorative detail, and cleverly conceals three cupboards behind the panels for extra storage. Calacatta quartz pulls the worktops and splashbacks together as a practical final touch to this compact kitchen with a sleek and contemporary look.
