The St John's Wood Kitchen
Following a disastrous flood in the basement of their St John’s Wood home, our clients asked us to redesign the space as a family area for cooking, eating and living. Charlie designed the kitchen area to take advantage of the morning sun, and separated the kitchen from the dining and living areas with a peninsular breakfast bar, the back of which forms upholstered bench seating for the dining table to make full use of the space. The design of the furniture is carried through to the media room to include fitted alcove cupboards glazed with opaque bronze glass, a built in TV, and fireplace surround crafted from diamond quartzite and patinated brass.

The oak cupboards throughout were rubbed back to expose the grain and finished with a pigmented pale wash, and for a sleek and contemporary look the base cupboards were kept handleless with patinated brass surrounds and kickplates. A notable feature is the sink made from diamond quartzite which catches the sunlight in the mornings. The same material is used on the worktops, and to create the wow factor the breakfast bar is underlit, and edged in patinated brass. LED lighting above and below the cupboards completes the look of this light and airy sophisticated kitchen which makes the best possible use of the space.
The Bathroom
In the master ensuite bathroom the theme is continued with a pale washed oak vanity cupboard with patinated bronze handles. The wall cupboards for storage are framed in hand painted mirrored glass either side of the basins picking out the colours of the wash basins.
The Utility Room
The small space in the utility room has been fitted throughout to incorporate a washing machine, tumble drier, large fridge/freezer and tall pull out cupboards for additional storage, making optimal use of this small area.
Collaborating with Charlie and his team at Ledbury Studio was a really enjoyable creative process. Charlie is a great listener and tries his very best to make ideas into reality. The materials they use are inspiring, and high-quality. As a result, we have the most beautiful and stunning kitchen, pantry, family room, ensuite and kids bathroom. We love entertaining now, and hardly ever want to leave the house!
